LENT is the 40 day period before Easter which traditionally is a time of meditation, prayer and spiritual renewal among Christians.

Lent is a time for self-examination & penitence in spiritual formation. When combined with reflection on the details of Jesus’ passion, it prepares us for a richer celebration of Easter.

Announcing Atonement in the

Year of Jubilee

Then have the trumpet sounded everywhere on… the Day of Atonement …Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee.

Lev.25:9-10

In the way God structured life for His people in the ancient world of the Old Testament, the Year of Jubilee began on the Day of Atonement!

Lent begins on

Ash Wednesday March 9. Some people receive a cross of ashes on their forehead as a reminder, You are dust and to dust you shall return. (Gen.3:19).  Ashes are often associated in the Bible with sorrow over sins (Job 42:6; Daniel 9:3).

7am.-8am.     Stop in at the Collins bldg. at your own convenience during this time for Communion and to receive ashes on your forehead.  Wear the ashes thru the day as a witness to the reality of forgiven sin in your life thru the Cross of Jesus.  Your total time invested should be 10-15min.

6:00pm.     Our next Season of Seeking God thru prayer & fasting will be on Ash Wednesday.  Practice the “holy habit” of fasting in some form during the day.  Break your fast together with others at the Collins bldg.  Bring a light cover dish to share.

Bread & Water

(plus a little bit more)

On Sunday evenings:

March 13, March 27, April 3,   April 10 (4wks)

we will gather for Communion, at 6:00pm. at the West Hartland building.

The evening will begin with Bread & Water

(plus a little bit more. The more is called soup.) followed by Communion.

Thru Communion God meets us by faith in Jesus, furthering His purposes in our lives, and empowering us to stay in love with God & each other.

Anointed with Oil

An opportunity to be anointed for healing will be available each week.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil.  My cup overflows. Psalm 23:5

Foot Washing

[Jesus] got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.  After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him… [Jesus said] Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. John 13:4-5; 14-15

On April 10, the evening service at the West Hartland bldg. will include a time of foot washing. Men will wash men’s feet, and women will wash women’s feet.

The evening will be simple & include

    6:00pm.       Bread & Water

    6:30pm.       Communion

    7:00pm.       Departure
